The growing and dying moon reminds us of our ignorance; Which comes and goes—but when the moon is full it is as if the Great Spirit were upon the whole world. - Black Elk

I like what you're doing here, keeping people informed. There's a lot of anger going on still with the mistreatment towards Native American communities. So, the subject can be rather taboo, unfortunately. It's nice to see an approach that deals more with history and facts.

Thank you so much. Your comment is greatly appreciated!

Topic of the Day: Black Elk as a Medicine Man

For thirty years Black Elk was a medicine man for the Oglala, Lakota. He began practicing as a medicine man in the spring of 1881 by reforming a horse dance ceremony at Fort Keogh, Montana. His family was camped there at the time being with other refugees from Canada. The next year his family settled at the Pine Ridge Reservation. Black Elk became an important and well respected medicine man at the age of nineteen. However since the reservation life was hard to adapt to adapt to so in 1886 Black Elk left the reservation as the medicine man and joined Buffalo Bills Wild West show tour in Europe.
